The Indian senior women’s hockey team is gearing up for a four-match series in Argentina at the CeNARD in Buenos Aires from April 13 to 17. This series will see India facing tough competition from their South American counterparts on their home ground. Matches are scheduled for April 13, 14, 16, and 17.
This tour holds significant importance for India as they prepare for the FIH Hockey World Cup Belgium and Netherlands 2026 and the Asian Games. India and Argentina have a history of competitive matches, with a memorable 2-2 draw in the FIH Pro League 2024–25 last June. This upcoming series will provide crucial match practice against strong international teams, aligning with Hockey India’s strategic plans for upcoming major events.
The series in Argentina will be a vital part of India’s preparations, offering four intense matches and a chance to experiment with different strategies and player combinations. Indian chief coach Sjoerd Marijne emphasized the importance of teamwork, stating that the tour with a squad of 24 players aims to assess players’ performances at the highest level. He highlighted the need for players to showcase not just individual skills but also teamwork and unity to secure a spot in the team.
