The Indian women’s pairs lawn bowls team, comprising Rupa Rani Tirkey and Pinki, secured a hard-fought victory against Tonga’s Paris Baker and Milika Nathan at the Commonwealth Games 2026. Initially conceding the lead, the Indian duo displayed excellent teamwork to level the scores and eventually clinched the first set 5-2.
Despite Tonga’s strong comeback in the second set, taking a 6-0 lead, the Indian team fought back with precision bowls. However, Tonga managed to win the set 6-4, leading to a tiebreak. In a tense finale, the Indian pair delivered a stellar performance, winning the tiebreak 2-0 to emerge victorious.
This win marked India’s third consecutive victory in the women’s pairs competition at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, solidifying Rupa Rani Tirkey and Pinki’s standing in the sectional standings.
Both India and England have secured three wins each in Section B of the women’s pairs sectional play, with England leading the table due to winning an additional set. Rupa and Pinki are set to face Namibia in their upcoming match on Sunday at 1:00 PM IST.
