Indian wrestler Sujeet Kalkal, the U23 world champion, secured the gold medal in the men’s 65kg freestyle category at the Muhamet Malo 2026 wrestling tournament. Kalkal claimed victory with four consecutive wins based on technical superiority.
In the final, the 23-year-old Indian outperformed Rashid Babazade from Azerbaijan with a score of 10-0. Prior to this, Kalkal had notable wins over Joseph McKenna from the USA, Nika Zakashvili from Georgia, and Endrio Avdyli from Albania in the quarter-finals.
This triumph marks Kalkal’s second consecutive gold medal in the 2026 UWW Ranking Series, following his recent success at the Zagreb Open in Croatia. His impressive performance included dominant victories over various opponents, showcasing his prowess in the sport.
