Woman grapplers Meenakshi Goyat, Hanshika, and Mansi Lather, along with male freestyle competitors Aman, Sandeep Singh Mann, Mukul Dahiya, and Greco-Roman Style contestants Sachin Sehrawat and Sunil Kumar, emerged victorious in their respective weight categories during the selection trials for the 2026 Senior Asian Wrestling Championship. The upcoming championship is set to take place in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, from April 6 to 12, with the Indian wrestlers aiming for strong performances.

Meenakshi Goyat, transitioning from 50kg to 53kg, surprised many by defeating Antim Panghal, a two-time World Championship bronze medalist, in the final bout of the women’s 53 kg trials. Despite previous losses to Antim, Meenakshi showcased a remarkable performance this time, clinching victory in a closely contested match. Antim, a three-time medallist in the Asian Championship, faced tough competition from Meenakshi, a two-time national champion training under former national coach Kuldeep Malik in Sonepat.

In another exciting showdown in the 50kg category, Neelam, who had previously defeated Shivani, triumphed over Priyanshi in the final with a win by technical superiority. Additionally, the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has finalized the squad for the Beach Asian Games in China, alongside the selections for the 2026 Senior Asian Wrestling Championship.

The list of selected wrestlers for the 2026 Senior Asian Wrestling Championship includes participants across various weight categories in Free Style and Greek-Roman Style. Notable names like Ankush, Aman, Sandeep Singh Mann, Mukul Dahiya, Sachin Sehrawat, and Sunil Kumar are set to represent India in the championship, showcasing the country’s wrestling talent on the international stage.
