India’s Ambassador to Oman, Prashant Pise, presented his credentials to Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi at the Ministry’s General Diwan. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi wished him success in his duties and for the bilateral ties to progress further.
The ceremony was attended by officials from both sides, including Ambassador Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashil Al Muskyri and Ambassador Naguib bin Yahya Al Balushi. Prashant Pise assumed his role as India’s Ambassador to Oman on June 14, having previously served as an Additional Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs.
Upon taking charge, Ambassador Prashant Pise paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the Embassy of India in Muscat, emphasizing Gandhi’s values of truth, non-violence, and moral courage. Earlier in March, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Oman’s ruler Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, expressing India’s condemnation of a recent violation of Oman’s sovereignty and appreciating Oman’s efforts in facilitating the safe return of individuals, including Indian nationals.
PM Modi and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq agreed on the importance of dialogue and diplomacy for de-escalation and restoring peace and stability in the region. The leaders also discussed safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing the strong historical and cultural ties between India and Oman.
