India’s chief selector, Ajit Agarkar, expressed optimism about Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s selection for the T20I tours of Ireland, England, and the Asian Games. Sooryavanshi’s outstanding performance in IPL 2026, where he was the leading run-scorer with 776 runs, earned him this opportunity.
Agarkar highlighted Sooryavanshi’s explosive batting skills and game-changing abilities, emphasizing the youngster’s potential in high-pressure environments. The chief selector mentioned that Sooryavanshi’s consistent performances have earned him a spot in the squad, showcasing his talent and temperament.
Sooryavanshi’s selection for the upcoming tours follows his participation in the India ‘A’ team in Sri Lanka. Secretary Devajit Saikia mentioned that careful monitoring by selectors and technical staff will ensure Sooryavanshi’s development and success in the future.
