External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar expressed India’s interest in strengthening ties with Panama due to its strategic location and economic stability. During a meeting with Panama’s Foreign Minister Javier Martinez-Acha Vasquez in New Delhi, Jaishankar emphasized the mutual willingness to enhance their partnership. He highlighted the importance of Panama as a key ally offering strategic advantages and economic potential for India.
India and Panama collaborate closely in various international forums, including the United Nations. Jaishankar acknowledged Panama’s interest in cooperation across multiple sectors such as education, pharmaceuticals, technology, and trade. He praised Panama’s role as a vital link in global trade routes, particularly through the Panama Canal, and emphasized the significance of expanding bilateral relations as both countries aim for growth and development.
Expressing gratitude, Jaishankar thanked Panama for its support of India’s right to self-defense following a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir. He appreciated Panama’s solidarity and condemnation of terrorism, underscoring the existing positive momentum in bilateral relations. Jaishankar looked forward to productive discussions during the visit, expecting further advancements in the partnership.
