India’s top mixed doubles pair, Manush Shah and Diya Chitale, along with Ankur Bhattacharjee, secured wins at the WTT Star Contender Chennai 2026. Manush and Diya faced tough competition from Korean qualifiers but emerged victorious after a close match, reaching the quarterfinals.
Ankur Bhattacharjee defeated French player Florian Bourrassaud with a 3-1 win and will now compete against Japan’s Kazuhiro Yoshimura in the next round. Ankur also progressed to the mixed doubles quarterfinals with Swastika Ghosh after defeating a Korean duo in a thrilling 3-2 match.
In another quarterfinal match, Manush and Diya are set to play against Indian wildcards Payas Jain and Syndrela Das. The tournament also saw Snehit Suravajjula and Harmeet Desai advancing to the next rounds with impressive wins.
The women’s singles event witnessed young talent Divyanshi Bhowmick putting up a strong fight but falling short against Korean player Ryu Hanna. Diya also secured a victory against Anusha Kutumbale to move forward in the competition.
