India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, expressed gratitude towards former head coach Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, head of the BCCI Center of Excellence, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar for their roles in shaping the victorious team. Gambhir dedicated the historic win to Dravid, acknowledging his contributions in maintaining Indian cricket’s strength. He also praised Laxman for his behind-the-scenes efforts at the CoE, ensuring players’ readiness despite injuries.
Gambhir further recognized the support of the chief selector and his team, particularly mentioning former BCCI secretary and current ICC chairman Jay Shah for backing him during tough times. Despite his lack of prior head coaching experience, Gambhir appreciated the trust placed in him for the job, emphasizing the safety of Indian cricket under the current leadership.
