India’s plastics industry is expected to grow to $44.5 billion by 2030, with exports rising from $10 billion in 2025 to $20 billion by 2027. The PlastIndia Foundation, the apex body of the plastic industry, highlighted that the industry, valued at $26.5 billion in 2025, will be primarily boosted by infrastructure projects and increasing consumer demand in sectors like packaging, automotive, construction, electronics, and healthcare.
Packaging holds a significant share of almost 42% in the market, driven by the rapid expansion of e-commerce. Ravish Kamath, President of PlastIndia Foundation, emphasized the crucial role of the plastics industry in modern commerce due to this growth.
The upcoming event, ‘PLASTINDIA 2026,’ is being promoted as the “world’s largest international plastics exhibition” and “India’s first 100% zero-waste” expo. Scheduled from February 5–10 at Bharat Mandapam, the event is expected to host over 2,000 exhibitors and attract more than 600,000 visitors. It aims to showcase the scale, strength, and global competitiveness of India’s plastics industry.
The exhibition will feature various products like plastic films, industrial parts, and specialty polymers, with the goal of boosting exports and positioning India as a global leader in plastics. Through connections with global buyers, investors, and technology partners, the event seeks to enhance the industry’s global presence.
