India is on track to become the world’s third-largest economy, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking at the ‘India Energy Week’ (IEW) 2026 with global energy CEOs, PM Modi emphasized India’s economic growth and highlighted investment potential of around $100 billion in exploration and production, thanks to investor-friendly policy reforms.
During the meeting, PM Modi also pointed out a $30 billion opportunity in Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG). The event, attended by Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, and Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Suresh Gopi, aimed to gather feedback from industry leaders to enhance policy frameworks and strengthen India’s position as an attractive investment destination.
CEOs from 27 global firms like TotalEnergies, BP, and Vitol participated in the roundtable. They expressed confidence in India’s growth prospects, citing policy stability and long-term demand visibility. PM Modi highlighted opportunities in the energy value chain, emphasizing the need for innovation, collaboration, and partnerships to navigate the evolving global energy landscape.
