India’s swimming campaign at the Commonwealth Games 2026 kicked off successfully with Srihari Nataraj securing a spot in the men’s 50m backstroke semifinals. Nataraj finished fifth in his heat with a time of 25.52 seconds, comfortably qualifying for the next round.
In the para swimming event, Budigina impressed with a third-place finish in the men’s 100m freestyle S13, clocking 57.10 seconds. His strong finish moved him into the top three after starting in fourth place midway through the race. Ali Imam also advanced to the final with a time of 1:05.32, securing a spot in the medal race.
India’s swimmers are set to compete in the semifinals and finals, aiming to clinch medals and make their mark at the ongoing tournament in swimming.
