India’s youth are being prepared not just for jobs but for global opportunities, stated Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary during the launch of the IndiaSkills Competition 2026–27. Registrations for the competition are now open on the Skill India Digital Hub, offering a digital platform for young individuals nationwide to participate.
The competition will progress through district, state, and regional levels before culminating in a national event where top performers will undergo advanced training and assessment. This will prepare them to represent India at international platforms like the WorldSkills Competition. Chaudhary emphasized that IndiaSkills has transformed into a platform that nurtures skills into aspirations and excellence into opportunities.
Chaudhary highlighted the importance of equipping India’s youth with globally recognized skills, confidence, and ambition as industries evolve and technology shapes the future of work. IndiaSkills 2026–27 is an opportunity for young aspirants to exhibit their capabilities and contribute to India’s journey in becoming a global skill hub.
The competition will feature 63 industry-aligned skills, including advanced manufacturing, construction, engineering, digital technologies, hospitality, transportation, creative industries, and emerging sectors. Since its inception in 2016, IndiaSkills has grown into the country’s largest skill competition ecosystem, with participation expanding significantly over the years.
