The India Meteorological Department’s Bhopal Centre has alerted about an intense heat wave expected to affect various parts of Madhya Pradesh over the next five days. The warning emphasizes the likelihood of unusually high temperatures posing health risks to residents. Several districts, especially in the state’s northern, eastern, and central regions, are forecasted to experience severe heat conditions, as per the latest weather bulletin issued on Saturday.
The bulletin, based on observations from Saturday, highlighted that on May 22, many areas recorded temperatures higher than normal. Additionally, warm nights are expected in places like Chhindwara, with above-average minimum temperatures noted on May 23. The Meteorological Centre in Bhopal has issued red, orange, and yellow alerts for heat wave conditions in multiple districts until May 27.
Severe heat wave conditions are anticipated in isolated areas of Satna, Panna, Chhatarpur, and Tikamgarh from May 23 to May 24. Similar warnings have been issued for other districts like Datia, Bhind, Rewa, and more. Sagar is likely to experience heat wave conditions, while warm nights are predicted for Chhindwara, Balaghat, and Pandhurna. Numerous districts, including Vidisha, Raisen, Rajgarh, and others, have been placed under heat wave alerts.
The forecast for the following days indicates a persistent severe heat wave in various districts. The situation calls for precautions against heat-related illnesses, with recommendations to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and take care of vulnerable groups like children and the elderly. Farmers are advised on soil moisture maintenance and livestock care amidst the ongoing heat spell before the monsoon’s full onset.
