Inter Miami CF triumphed with a 2-1 win against D.C. United at M&T Bank Stadium. Rodrigo De Paul and Leo Messi scored for Inter Miami in front of a record-breaking crowd of 72,026 fans. De Paul netted the first goal in the 17th minute after a pass from Segovia inside the box.
Messi extended the lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 27th minute, courtesy of a precise pass from Silvetti. This marked Messi’s 80th goal for Inter Miami. D.C. United narrowed the gap with a goal from Tai Baribo in the second half, but Inter Miami held on for the win.
Head coach Javier Mascherano praised the team’s performance, highlighting their control in the first half and the importance of securing wins on the road. Inter Miami will now prepare to face Nashville SC in the Concacaf Champions Cup Round of 16.
