The International Kite Festival in Gujarat celebrates Uttarayan, signifying the shift from winter to summer. Kite flying has been a long-standing tradition during Makar Sakranti in the state, with people preparing kites well in advance.

As the festival nears, markets in Ahmedabad and other Gujarat districts are brimming with a diverse range of kites, including those featuring PM Modi, which are highly popular among buyers. These customized kites also display slogans related to government initiatives, aiming to raise social awareness.

The kites bear slogans like “Atmanirbhar Bharat,” “Beti Padhao Beti Bachao,” and “Modi Hai Toh Mumkin Hai,” among others, reflecting the achievements of the Modi government. The demand for these kites is robust in the markets, drawing significant interest from buyers and boosting sales for traders.

The trend of Modi-themed kites has piqued curiosity among consumers, driving them to purchase these unique kites. Traders are optimistic about achieving record sales, emphasizing that designs with meaningful messages attract a substantial number of buyers during festive seasons.

Kite maker Iqbal Bhai Bahelim noted the significant growth in the kite business, attributing it to the festival’s popularity, especially after Narendra Modi, as Gujarat Chief Minister, revitalized the event. The kite-making industry has witnessed a notable upsurge due to the demand for Modi-inspired kites, creating employment opportunities for many artisans.

Kite maker Narayan, with 15 years of experience, highlighted the soaring demand for kites featuring Modi, leading to a surge in orders. The rise in popularity of Modi-themed kites has not only revitalized the kite-making sector but has also provided livelihoods to numerous individuals.

The International Kite Festival, a prominent event in Ahmedabad since 1989, attracts kite enthusiasts and experts worldwide to showcase their innovative creations, adding to the festival’s vibrancy and charm.
