Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Arun Dhumal expressed sadness over the death of cricketer Rinku Singh’s father, Khanchand Singh. Rinku’s father, who was battling stage 4 liver cancer at Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida, passed away. Dhumal extended his heartfelt condolences to Rinku and his family during this challenging time.
Rinku’s father was on ventilator support and in a serious condition, leading Rinku to return home. Despite rejoining the squad in time for the Super Eight clash against Zimbabwe, he did not play in the XI but participated as a substitute fielder. BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla also expressed condolences through a social media post, offering strength to Rinku and his family.
The 28-year-old cricketer, a late addition to the World Cup squad, has struggled to meet expectations, scoring only 24 runs in five innings. Rinku, known for his role as a finisher in shorter cricket formats, plays for Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket and has represented India in white-ball cricket.
