Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has stated that the country’s armed forces are prepared to deliver a strong response to any acts of aggression. This declaration follows US President Donald Trump’s dismissal of Iran’s recent response to a US proposal, expressing concerns about the fragile state of the ceasefire between the two nations.
Qalibaf emphasized the readiness of Iran’s armed forces to provide a robust response to any form of aggression, asserting their preparedness for all possible scenarios. Iran conveyed its response to the US proposal through a Pakistani mediator, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
Furthermore, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei elaborated on Iran’s peace proposal during a press conference, highlighting the country’s pursuit of its people’s legitimate rights. The proposal includes demands such as ending the conflict in West Asia, halting US “maritime piracy,” releasing blocked assets of Iranian citizens in foreign banks, ensuring safe passage in the Strait of Hormuz, and establishing regional peace and security.
Iran’s atomic chief, Mohammad Eslami, underscored the non-negotiable nature of Iran’s nuclear technology and uranium enrichment. Eslami emphasized that these aspects are not up for negotiation in talks with the United States, as reported by the official news agency IRNA.
The ceasefire agreement reached by Iran, the United States, and Israel on April 8 marked the end of a 40-day conflict initiated by joint US-Israeli attacks on Iranian cities. Despite subsequent peace talks in Pakistan, no agreement was reached, with both sides exchanging proposed plans through the mediation of Pakistan to resolve the conflict.
