Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has commended wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul for his remarkable consistency in the Indian Premier League (IPL), hailing him as a reliable asset for any team. Rahul has been a standout performer in the IPL, surpassing the 500-run mark in seven of the last eight seasons. Set to open for Delhi Capitals in the upcoming season, Rahul’s ability to consistently provide strong starts has earned him high praise.
Pathan, speaking on his YouTube channel, expressed confidence in Rahul’s ability to consistently amass 500 runs each season, emphasizing his knack for scoring runs and setting a solid foundation for his team. Despite occasional discussions about his strike rate, Pathan highlighted that Rahul’s primary focus should be on contributing to victories. Rahul’s impressive IPL record includes 5,222 runs in 145 matches, with a notable achievement of holding the record for the highest individual score by an Indian in the tournament.
Noteworthy is Rahul’s unbeaten 132 against Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2020 while playing for Punjab Kings. With five centuries and 40 half-centuries in the IPL, Rahul’s prowess as a top-order batsman is well-established. Pathan also voiced support for Prithvi Shaw’s return to Delhi Capitals, suggesting that Shaw, who excelled for Maharashtra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, is poised to make a strong impact alongside Rahul at the top of the order.
Delhi Capitals are scheduled to kick off their campaign against Lucknow Super Giants on April 1 at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
