Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar strongly denounced the stabbing of two men in New York City as a “horrific antisemitic” attack. Saar criticized New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani for allegedly contributing to an environment where Jews are targeted, linking the incident to months of incitement against Israel.
Saar expressed his outrage over the antisemitic attack, emphasizing that such violence does not occur in isolation but is fueled by ongoing incitement. He stressed the impact of words on actions, calling for immediate measures from Mayor Mamdani to combat antisemitism and ensure the safety of the Jewish community in the city.
Following the arrest of a suspect in connection with the stabbings, Saar urged Mamdani to end incitement, confront antisemitism decisively, and take steps to protect New York City’s Jewish population. The Israeli Foreign Minister emphasized the need for swift action and unity in addressing such hate crimes, stating firmly, “Enough is enough.”
Saar’s remarks came in response to the arrest of a suspect involved in separate stabbing incidents in Manhattan. The New York Police Department confirmed the arrest of 51-year-old Raul Morales in connection with the assaults on an Asian man and a Jewish man, with no additional suspects being sought. The NYPD is investigating whether the stabbings are considered hate crimes, given the alleged statements made by the suspect during the attacks.
