ITF W15 New Delhi Concludes Successfully, Indian Players Shine

The ITF W15 New Delhi event wrapped up at the DLTA Stadium, boosting women’s tennis in India. Shruti Ahlawat clinched the singles title, with Ksenia Laskutova & Ekaterina Yashina winning the doubles. The tournament, held from April 27 to May 3, featured 74 players, including 62 Indians, vying for world ranking points and a USD 15,000 prize pool.

The doubles final on May 2 saw Ksenia Laskutova & Ekaterina Yashina triumph over Arina Arifullina & Michika Ozeki with a 6-4, 6-3 victory. In the singles final on May 3, Shruti Ahlawat defeated Zuzanna Kolonus to claim the title with a 7-5, 6-2, 7-6 win. The event showcased emerging Indian talent, with 14-year-old Jensi Kanabar making a notable quarterfinal appearance.

Indian players like Zeel Desai, Akansha Dileep Nitture, and Sonal Patil also made their mark, contributing to a strong local presence. The tournament featured players from Russia, Japan, the United States, and Poland, enhancing the competitive environment and offering Indian players valuable international exposure.
