Jadavpur MP Saayoni Ghosh has issued a legal notice to Tapas Mondal, a key figure in the teachers’ recruitment corruption case, for falsely implicating her. Ghosh, who won as an MP from Jadavpur on a Trinamool Congress ticket, demanded an apology and Rs 5 crore in damages from Mondal. She emphasized that baseless accusations cannot be made against public figures and warned of legal action if Mondal fails to respond.
Saayoni Ghosh, who later joined the NCPI party, clarified that she had submitted extensive documentation to the investigating agency when called in for questioning previously. Refuting the allegations, she highlighted her commitment to upholding her reputation as a public representative. Ghosh stressed that if Mondal does not retract his statements, they will address the matter in court.
Tapas Mondal, the middleman in the recruitment corruption case, had accused Saayoni Ghosh of receiving benefits from the scam. Allegations included claims that funds misappropriated by another individual were used to provide Ghosh with a flat and a car. In response to these damaging accusations, Ghosh initiated legal proceedings against Mondal, citing defamation and harm to her public image.
