Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) President, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, reassured party leaders and workers not to fear false cases filed against them. This statement came after party leader Ambati Rambabu, recently released on bail, met Jagan Mohan Reddy to discuss what the party termed as an illegal case. Rambabu briefed Jagan on the cases against him, vandalism of his residence, an attempt on his life, police inaction, and alleged overaction by certain officers.
Jagan assured Rambabu that there was no need to worry about false cases and that they would be addressed through legal means. He criticized the behavior of some police officials whom he accused of supporting the ruling party, emphasizing the need to confront obstacles and harassment while fighting for people’s rights. Jagan urged party members to remain steadfast and continue supporting the public.
MP Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose, former MP Nandigam Suresh, former MLA Malladi Vishnu, and NTR District YSRCP President Devineni Avinash were also present at the meeting. Rambabu, the former minister and Guntur district YSRCP president, was released on bail from Rajahmundry Central Prison after being granted bail in an alleged illegal lottery case registered against him in Sattenapalli in 2023.
He had been in remand for 17 days in connection with this case and another one related to alleged abusive remarks against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and obstruction of police personnel during a protest in Guntur. Rambabu’s arrest followed an incident where his house was reportedly attacked by TDP supporters in Guntur. On a subsequent day, the Rajahmundry police prohibited him from leading a large procession from Rajahmundry to Guntur, citing legal restrictions.
