External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar extended congratulations to Tone Kajzer for his appointment as the Foreign Minister of Slovenia. Kajzer, a former diplomat, took office after a parliamentary confirmation hearing and is part of the new right-wing coalition government led by Prime Minister Janez Jansna.
Expressing excitement to collaborate, Jaishankar praised Kajzer’s over 30 years of experience in diplomatic service, starting in 1995 at Slovenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Kajzer has served in various significant diplomatic roles, including as Ambassador to the United States, focusing on international development cooperation, EU affairs, and regional stability.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also commended Janez Jansa on his election as Slovenia’s Prime Minister, emphasizing the commitment to enhancing bilateral relations. Jansa, who secured his fourth term as PM through a secret ballot in the Slovenian National Assembly, leads the Slovenian Democratic Party.
India and Slovenia enjoy a strong bilateral relationship based on shared democratic values, economic convergence, and robust multilateral cooperation since establishing diplomatic ties in 1992. The partnership has evolved into a forward-looking alliance emphasizing innovation, logistics, and technology.
