External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Manila to review important aspects of the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. Discussions included trade, tariffs, energy, defense, security, critical minerals, and artificial intelligence. They also exchanged views on various regional, global, and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
During the same visit, Jaishankar also engaged with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong to assess the outcomes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent trip to Australia. The meeting aimed to follow up on the agreements signed during Modi’s visit, including a defense pact and a civilian nuclear deal for uranium supply.
In another meeting, Jaishankar held discussions with Philippines counterpart Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro in Manila to enhance the Strategic Partnership between the two countries. The leaders focused on areas such as trade, investment, education, defense, security, maritime cooperation, capacity building, and development cooperation, while also addressing recent Indo-Pacific developments.
