External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Oman’s counterpart, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, in Muscat to talk about bilateral relations and Gulf region progress. Jaishankar expressed India’s gratitude for Oman’s swift aid to Indian seafarers during recent events, as per the Ministry of External Affairs. The ministers also shared thoughts on global and regional matters of common concern.
Delighted by the meeting with Omani FM Albusaidi, Jaishankar highlighted discussions on various cooperation aspects like trade, investments, and technology. The talks included exchanges on Gulf developments and efforts for peace and stability. Both ministers emphasized the strength of their strategic partnership.
Albusaidi acknowledged the enduring maritime connections between India and Oman, emphasizing how these ties unite the people and underpin the nations’ friendship. He welcomed Jaishankar to Muscat and discussed the importance of diplomatic efforts for ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, expressing gratitude for India’s support.
Earlier, Jaishankar engaged with the Indian diaspora in Oman, recognizing their role in enhancing bilateral relations and society. He appreciated their contributions and enthusiasm for strengthening India-Oman ties. Jaishankar’s visit to Oman follows his Kuwait trip and precedes his upcoming visits to New York and Brussels as part of a six-nation tour.
