External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held discussions with Seychelles Foreign Minister Barry Faure during the 9th Indian Ocean Conference in Mauritius. India reiterated its commitment to assist Seychelles in addressing its current economic challenges. Jaishankar, on an official visit to Mauritius, is engaging with various nations and reviewing bilateral ties.
India recently dispatched 250 metric tonnes of food grains to Seychelles as part of a USD 175 million Special Economic Package. This aid aims to support Seychelles in its economic development. During Seychelles President Patrick Herminie’s visit to India, both countries acknowledged the support extended by India towards Seychelles’ development and security needs.
The joint vision document ‘SESEL’ outlines India’s commitment to being a reliable partner in Seychelles’ national development agenda. This partnership focuses on sustainability, defence, maritime security, capacity building, and inclusive growth. India has announced a Special Economic Package of USD 175 million, including financial assistance for various development projects and capacity building initiatives.
