Jaishankar Meets UK Foreign Secretary in Manila, Discuss Bilateral Ties

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband in Manila to discuss deepening bilateral ties post India-UK Free Trade Agreement implementation. Both leaders reaffirmed commitment to strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Jaishankar shared meeting details, expressing optimism to build on positive momentum from recent agreements.

Elected as MP in 2005, Miliband was appointed UK’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated Andy Burnham on becoming UK’s PM, highlighting plans to enhance partnership in various sectors.

Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal announced the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement coming into force, marking a significant milestone in bilateral relations. PM Modi welcomed the agreements, emphasizing deeper economic engagement and new opportunities for both countries.
