Jammu and Kashmir Crime Branch has taken legal action against seven individuals for deceiving unemployed individuals with false promises of government employment. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Kashmir initiated a criminal case after receiving a complaint alleging that the accused had swindled people, especially job seekers, by offering government jobs. These individuals reportedly collected around Rs 39 lakh from victims under the guise of securing government positions but provided them with counterfeit appointment letters instead.

The investigation by the Economic Offences Wing, Crime Branch Kashmir, revealed that the accused used fraudulent means, including using SIM cards registered under other names, to carry out their deceitful activities. Verification of the fake appointment letters distributed to victims confirmed the documents’ illegitimacy. The accused are facing charges under various sections of the RPC, including Sections 420, 468, 472, and 120-B, as per the statement released.

A formal case has been registered at the Police Station Economic Offences Wing, Crime Branch Kashmir, following the initiation of legal proceedings. The authorities urge the public, especially unemployed youth, to be cautious of individuals or groups promising government jobs in exchange for money. Victims of such fraudulent schemes are advised to report such activities promptly to the police or the Economic Offences Wing to prevent further exploitation.
