Television actress and influencer Jannat Zubair has indirectly criticized celebrities who recently showed solidarity with ongoing student protests. She questioned why many celebrities chose to speak up only after the protests had been ongoing for almost a month. Jannat shared a note on social media expressing surprise at the sudden surge of empathy from celebrities.
While not naming anyone, Jannat’s comments followed a wave of Bollywood celebrities publicly supporting the protesting students. Kareena Kapoor Khan and Salman Khan were among those who extended their support. Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sara Ali Khan, and Ananya Panday also voiced their solidarity with the student movement.
The protests, triggered by allegations of examination irregularities and NEET paper leaks, have continued for over a month. Students nationwide are demanding transparency, accountability, and reforms for a fair education system. The movement gained momentum when social activist Sonam Wangchuk joined in solidarity, fasting alongside the students.
Sonam Wangchuk concluded his hunger strike recently, marking a significant development in the ongoing protests.
