India’s top fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, was spotted practicing with the red ball in Ahmedabad, gearing up for the upcoming challenges. Bumrah, showcasing his rigorous training, shared images of his session on Instagram, bowling with the red SG ball, while being observed by his Gujarat teammates. Despite being rested from the T20I matches against Ireland and England, Bumrah is set to participate in the three-game series against England starting on July 14 in Birmingham.
The upcoming ODI series in England will mark Bumrah’s return to the 50-over format since the 2023 ODI World Cup final. Known for his workload management, Bumrah was absent from recent ODI games. However, he is expected to feature in the Asian Games men’s T20 cricket event in Japan in September. Looking ahead, Bumrah’s red-ball skills will be crucial as India faces Sri Lanka in a two-match Test series from August 15 to 27, with matches in Galle and Colombo.
Bumrah’s performance will be pivotal as India aims to secure a spot in the World Test Championship final, currently standing at fifth place with a points percentage of 48.15 after nine matches. With an impressive record of 234 wickets in 52 Test matches and 149 scalps in 89 ODIs, Bumrah’s presence is highly anticipated in the upcoming tours. The Sri Lanka Test series will mark Bumrah’s debut in red-ball cricket on the island.
