The MP-MLA Court in Bihar’s Gopalganj has granted interim relief to JD(U) MLA Anant Singh regarding the viral video case involving alleged weapon brandishing and obscene dancing at a private event. The court has stayed Anant Singh’s arrest and reserved its verdict, with the next hearing set for May 30. Anant Singh, along with eight others, has been named as accused in the case, but only he has been provided relief for now.
A legal team, including senior advocates Kumar Harshvardhan and Rajesh Kumar Pathak, represented Anant Singh during the hearing. They argued against immediate coercive action, claiming the viral video was edited and their client was falsely implicated. The presiding judge, after hearing both sides, reserved the order and directed to halt Anant Singh’s arrest. The defense team confirmed the upcoming hearing on May 30 and mentioned an application invoking Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The case originated from an incident on May 3 at a private function in Semrao village, where a video surfaced on social media showing individuals with weapons and engaging in obscene dancing. Anant Singh, in response, stated he was unaware of any such activities after he left the event and denied their occurrence during his presence.
