Pegula started strong, quickly establishing a 4-0 lead and comfortably winning the first set 6-1. Despite a minor setback in the second set where she lost her serve, Pegula swiftly recovered by breaking back in consecutive return games and winning four straight games to seal the victory.
Maintaining a high level of play, Pegula won 79 percent of points on her first serve and hit 12 winners during the match. Her success at Wimbledon follows a runner-up finish in Berlin, showcasing her strong form on grass courts.
In a recent interview, Pegula revealed a shift in mindset towards playing on grass, expressing a more relaxed approach without placing excessive pressure on herself. She humorously remarked, “Actually, I’m terrible on grass. I don’t know what the problem is.”
