Jharkhand’s Chief Minister, Hemant Soren, has instructed district administrations and government officials to secure uninterrupted drinking water access for the public during the intense heat wave in the state. Officials are mandated to arrange for drinking water at public spots and government premises, ensuring clear information for citizens in need. Soren emphasized the immediate resolution of water scarcity by deploying tankers, fixing hand pumps, and implementing alternative solutions in affected regions.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of a swift and compassionate administrative response to the extreme weather, aiming to prevent any community from facing water shortages. He urged officials to act promptly and sensitively, ensuring no village or neighborhood suffers due to a lack of drinking water. Jharkhand has been experiencing severe heat wave conditions, with temperatures surpassing 40 degrees Celsius in various districts.
As the state grapples with the heat, the government has issued heat wave alerts for six districts, with temperatures soaring nearly four degrees above normal in many areas. Weather forecasts suggest some relief towards the month’s end, predicting light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across parts of Jharkhand between May 26 and 29.
