The Jharkhand police apprehended a man associated with gangster Prince Khan for allegedly extorting money from a BMW Industries Limited plant in Bokaro district. The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Rakesh Kumar, was taken into custody from the Dumri area.
Authorities disclosed that the accused, acting on behalf of the Prince Khan gang, placed a threatening note inside the company premises. This incident, which dates back to March 12, involved the manager of the BMW Industries plant reporting the extortion demands and threats to the police.
Prince Khan, a notorious criminal hailing from Wasseypur in Dhanbad, is suspected to be operating from Pakistan and managing his criminal activities in various parts of Jharkhand. A Red Corner Notice has been issued against him by Interpol.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed by the police to investigate the case further. Through a combination of technical and human intelligence, the authorities were able to locate and apprehend Rakesh Kumar, who confessed to communicating with Prince Khan via an international WhatsApp number and carrying out the extortion-related tasks.
The investigation uncovered that the accused received a sum of Rs 1.50 lakh in two bank accounts for his actions. Authorities are now delving into the financial transactions and the broader network associated with the gang. Key digital evidence, such as WhatsApp communications and call records with Prince Khan, was found on the suspect’s mobile phone.
The police have stated that the inquiry into the matter is ongoing.
