The Jharkhand T20 Cricket League, modeled after the IPL, will commence at Ranchi’s JSCA International Stadium complex on Wednesday. Organized by the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) following BCCI guidelines, the tournament will feature six franchise teams playing a total of 27 matches. Preparations for the event are in the final stages.
Indian cricket legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Jharkhand’s cricket icon, will grace the opening ceremony as the chief guest. JSCA Vice-President Sanjay Pandey confirmed Dhoni’s attendance. The ceremony, scheduled after the opening match, will also feature a performance by Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor.
The participating teams include Chotanagpur Royals, Ranchi Titans, Koylanchal Super Kings, Jamshedpur Steelers, Dhanbad Diamonds, and Santhal Strikers. The league stage will witness 24 matches, followed by two semi-finals on June 22 and the final on June 23.
The inaugural match on June 10 will see Chotanagpur Royals face Ranchi Titans at 12 noon, followed by Koylanchal Super Kings against Jamshedpur Steelers on the same day. However, fans will miss star players Ishan Kishan and Anukul Roy due to their prior commitments.
During the league phase, two matches will be played daily — one in the afternoon and another in the evening. All matches will be broadcast live on Jio Hotstar and DD Sports, with free entry for spectators. The first semi-final on June 22 will feature Team 1 against Team 4, while the second semi-final will see Team 2 against Team 3. The winners will compete in the final on June 23 to determine the league’s first champion.
