Jammu and Kashmir Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha led a high-level security review meeting following a recent terror strike in Anantnag town, where a local policeman lost his life. Sinha, along with officials from various security agencies, discussed security measures and the impact of adverse weather on the Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage.

The meeting also focused on ensuring the safety and logistics of the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra amidst challenging weather conditions. Due to heavy rainfall, the pilgrimage was temporarily halted. Security arrangements were scrutinized in the wake of the Anantnag terror incident, where Head Constable Ashiq Hussain was fatally shot in Lal Chowk area.

In response to the attack, J&K Police intensified efforts against terrorists and their supporters, detaining over 3,000 overground workers associated with militants. The Resistance Front (TRF), linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the Anantnag attack. Lt. Governor Sinha condemned the violence, promising swift justice for the perpetrators.

Security forces launched a massive manhunt to apprehend the attackers, urging the public to provide any information. A tribute ceremony was held for the slain policeman in Anantnag, with a large turnout at his funeral in Budgam district.
