The Centre has approved the appointment of Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari as the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court. This decision follows the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium. Justice Dharmadhikari, currently serving as a judge in the Kerala High Court, will assume office upon the retirement of the current Chief Justice on March 5.

Born on July 9, 1966, in Raipur, Justice Dharmadhikari has a background as an advocate in various branches of law. He became an additional judge in the Madhya Pradesh High Court in 2016 and was later sworn in as a permanent judge in 2018. Last year, he was transferred from the Madhya Pradesh High Court to the Kerala High Court.

In April 2025, the Union Ministry of Law and Justice announced his transfer to the Kerala High Court after approval from the President and the Chief Justice of India. The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended his transfer in meetings held in March and April of the same year.
