Actor and parliamentarian Kamal Haasan shared that his acclaimed movie ‘Pushpak’, directed by Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, was made with just Rs 15 lakhs. At an event in Chennai, Haasan praised the director and mentioned that if ‘Pushpak’ was made today, it would have earned Rs 200 crore. Haasan emphasized the importance of passion in cinema over the focus on profits, contrasting the current trend of prioritizing box office numbers.
Kamal Haasan expressed admiration for Singeetham Srinivasa Rao’s visionary approach to filmmaking, noting his ability to stay ahead of the times. The veteran filmmaker, at 94 years old, is set to release ‘Sing Geetham’, described as India’s first musical fantasy. Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, known for his iconic works like ‘Pushpak’, has been a trailblazer in Indian cinema with a career spanning numerous languages and genres.
‘Sing Geetham’, produced by Nag Ashwin under Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema, features Ayaan, Ahilya Bamroo, and Shalini Kondepudi in lead roles. The film is scheduled to premiere on June 11, showcasing Singeetham Srinivasa Rao’s continued innovation and storytelling prowess in the industry.
