Former US Vice President Kamala Harris strongly criticized President Donald Trump’s recent State of the Union address, labeling it as “full of lies.” Harris accused Trump of misleading Americans on various issues including the economy, voting rights, and Iran. She expressed her disappointment with the speech, stating it seemed disconnected from the real struggles faced by ordinary families.

Harris highlighted her disagreement with Trump’s claim that the “state of the union is strong.” She emphasized that many Americans are grappling with high costs, unaffordable healthcare, and housing challenges. Recounting her encounters with families in southern states, Harris shared a poignant story of a mother in Mississippi struggling to afford basic necessities like clean water and groceries.

The former Vice President also criticized proposed budget allocations, questioning the rationale behind cutting Medicaid by $1 trillion while granting a similar tax cut to the wealthiest Americans. She vehemently opposed the SAVE Act, which Trump advocated for, arguing that it would impose stringent voter registration requirements that many Americans could not meet.

Addressing foreign policy, Harris expressed concerns about escalating tensions with Iran. She refuted Trump’s claims of dismantling Iran’s nuclear program and cautioned against further military involvement in the region. Harris stressed the importance of maintaining strong alliances for national security and peace, highlighting the divergence between US allies and the current administration’s approach.

Looking ahead to the future, Harris briefly touched on the 2024 election, emphasizing the need to focus on the present and future actions rather than dwelling on past outcomes. The State of the Union address holds significance as it sets the legislative agenda and shapes policy debates, especially in election years. The upcoming 2026 midterm elections will play a crucial role in determining the direction of US domestic and international policies.
