Booker Prize-winning Kannada author Banu Mushtaq expressed that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls is a straightforward process, dispelling fears of citizen harassment. Mushtaq, launching the SIR in Hassan district, emphasized the need for officials to assist the public through the enumeration process. Initially apprehensive due to criticism, she found the procedure hassle-free, requiring only Aadhaar and Voter Identity Cards.
Describing the process as smooth and simple, Mushtaq highlighted the ease of submitting required documents. She stressed the importance of public awareness and guidance during the exercise, urging officials to extend patience to all citizens. The SIR, aimed at ensuring accurate electoral rolls, involves over 59,000 Booth Level Officers conducting door-to-door verification across Karnataka for a month.
Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar initiated Karnataka’s SIR by completing his Enumeration Form, emphasizing the significance of voter registration for accessing government benefits. Mushtaq’s positive experience and encouragement aim to facilitate a smooth and efficient electoral roll revision process statewide.
