Karnataka BJP President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra criticized the Congress government for withdrawing cases related to violence at the Laadle Mashak Dargah in Kalaburagi district. Vijayendra accused the government of engaging in “appeasement politics” and “vote-bank politics” for electoral gains. He condemned the decision, stating that it displayed “low-level vote-bank politics and extreme minority appeasement.”
Referring to the violence at the Laadle Mashak Dargah, Vijayendra alleged that miscreants had desecrated a sacred Shivling and carried out stone-pelting attacks on officials’ vehicles. He strongly criticized the withdrawal of 13 cases related to the communal violence, calling the accused “anti-social elements” disrupting communal harmony. Vijayendra questioned the government’s message to society by releasing such individuals.
Vijayendra further accused the Congress government of disregarding Hindu sentiments, law, and public safety. He criticized the reported recommendation by Karnataka Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader to withdraw the cases, calling it “a betrayal of democracy.” Vijayendra also targeted Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, accusing him of giving a “clean chit” to “anti-social forces” for political reasons, which he believed sacrificed the safety of the state for Muslim vote-bank politics.
Responding to queries about the withdrawal of cases, Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara declined to provide specific details but emphasized that the decision was not rushed. Parameshwara stated that the Cabinet thoroughly discussed and considered all aspects before reaching the conclusion.
