Karnataka BJP President and MLA, B.Y. Vijayendra, expressed strong disapproval of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly’s resolution against the Mekedatu balancing reservoir and drinking water project. He emphasized Karnataka’s rights over the Cauvery river waters and criticized Tamil Nadu’s interference.

Vijayendra defended the Mekedatu project as Karnataka’s rightful endeavor to utilize its share of Cauvery water for Bengaluru’s water needs. He condemned the neighboring state’s political interference and unwavering stance on the issue.

Asserting Karnataka’s commitment to protect its interests, Vijayendra denounced Tamil Nadu’s exploitation of the Cauvery issue for political gains. He vowed to safeguard farmers’ interests and Kannadigas’ drinking water rights through any necessary struggle.

Vijayendra accused the Tamil Nadu government of using the Cauvery issue for electoral purposes and urged unity among political parties in defending Karnataka’s rights over the Cauvery waters. He criticized the Congress party for what he perceived as double standards in supporting conflicting stances on the matter.
