Karnataka BJP President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra supported Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, accusing Congress leaders of politicizing the move. Vijayendra emphasized that Pradhan’s decision was made in the students’ best interest, criticizing Congress for claiming political credit. He highlighted Pradhan’s history of advocating for student welfare, expressing disappointment over Congress exploiting NEET exam issues for political gain.
Vijayendra also criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for allegedly neglecting student concerns during the crisis. He mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to enhance exam system transparency and prevent malpractices. Vijayendra warned against anti-social elements exploiting student protests, citing activist Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike withdrawal due to concerns of external interference.
The BJP leader raised concerns about posters of Umar Khalid, facing anti-terror charges, being displayed at protests in Bengaluru. He urged the police to investigate the nature of these posters and condemned any misuse of genuine student movements. Vijayendra further accused Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge of failing to uphold law and order, stressing the need to protect the integrity of student protests.
