The Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has lodged a complaint with State Chief Electoral Officer V. Anbu Kumar regarding an alleged unauthorized Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process by the Karnataka State Election Commission. The BJP delegation, including key party members, visited the Election Commission of India office in Bengaluru to submit the complaint.
Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy emphasized that the Election Commission of India is already conducting a Special Intensive Revision to eliminate duplicate voter entries. He stressed that every voter is entitled to only one valid entry in the electoral roll, regardless of political affiliation.
Narayanaswamy expressed concerns about the State Election Commission’s independent revision exercise in 27 Bengaluru wards, questioning its authorization and potential impact on voter lists. He accused the Congress government of influencing the State Election Commission’s actions, calling for the immediate withdrawal of the exercise and emphasizing the need for Election Commission of India supervision.
The BJP representative warned of potential legal action if the State Election Commission persisted with the voter revision process without proper authorization. Narayanaswamy highlighted the importance of conducting the revision under the Election Commission of India’s oversight to ensure fairness and transparency for all political parties.
