The Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party unveiled its manifesto for the Davanagere South bye-election. Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka urged voters to support the party to remove the alleged corrupt Congress government. He accused Congress of neglecting minorities in the constituency and expressed confidence in the BJP’s candidate, Srinivas T. Daskariyappa.
Ashoka highlighted the BJP’s choice of a Dalit leader for the ticket, emphasizing the candidate’s commitment to the region. He criticized Congress for not selecting an ordinary party worker for the by-election ticket, claiming that minorities and backward classes were overlooked. Ashoka suggested that only by defeating Congress could minorities have a chance at representation.
The BJP leader criticized the Congress leadership, particularly targeting D.K. Shivakumar’s candidate in the election. He mentioned Minister Zameer Ahmad Khan’s absence from the campaign and mocked the situation, contrasting it with the BJP’s active campaigning. Ashoka urged voters to choose the BJP for comprehensive development in the constituency, emphasizing the need to break the dominance of a single family in power.
