The Karnataka BJP has requested the Election Commission of India to intervene and stop the separate revision process in the Greater Bengaluru Authority wards. The party delegation, led by Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, submitted a complaint to the Chief Electoral Officer seeking immediate action against the unauthorized revision exercise initiated by the Karnataka State Election Commission.
The BJP expressed concerns over a conflicting Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process by the Karnataka SEC and urged integration of any identified issues into the ECI’s statewide revision process. Despite the ongoing nationwide exercise, the Karnataka SEC ordered a separate SIR based on local complaints, freezing ward-level electoral rolls and planning field operations from June 26.
According to the BJP, conducting two simultaneous revision exercises would lead to confusion and administrative challenges. The party highlighted the potential waste of resources and manpower by deploying separate teams for voter verification. Citing legal provisions, the BJP emphasized that only ECI-designated officers have the authority to manage electoral rolls.
