The Karnataka BJP has called on the Congress-led state government to initiate immediate discussions with transport workers to avoid a complete halt in public services. The strike launched by workers on Tuesday has raised concerns about service disruptions. Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra criticized the government for failing to address critical issues, leading to public distress.
Vijayendra highlighted the recent electricity tariff hike, adding to citizens’ financial burdens. He warned that neglecting transport employees’ demands could result in widespread inconvenience. The delay in resolving issues, such as wage revision postponement, has contributed to the current situation, according to the BJP leader.
The BJP leader criticized the government’s failure to ensure an efficient transport system despite promoting free bus travel. He described the situation as a governance failure. Vijayendra emphasized that any disruption in transport services would severely impact students, employees, and daily commuters, holding the inactive Congress government accountable.
Accusing the state government of prioritizing politics over public welfare, Vijayendra criticized its tendency to defer solutions rather than address problems promptly. He stated that the government’s inability to resolve issues questions its legitimacy to govern. Transport workers have initiated an indefinite protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru, demanding fair pay, clearance of pending arrears, and union recognition.
