The Karnataka unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) cautioned the state government about potential law and order issues arising from the arrest of BJP MLC C.T. Ravi. State BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra expressed concerns over the police’s actions, suggesting a political influence behind the arrest.
Vijayendra emphasized that any arrests made under political directives could lead to a deterioration of law and order, holding the government accountable for the consequences. The situation unfolded dramatically outside Ravi’s residence in Chikkamagaluru as the police arrived to serve a notice for questioning related to a hate speech case.
Amid escalating tensions, the Karnataka Police filed an FIR against Ravi for alleged hate speech during protests against the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). Vijayendra accused the police of intending to arrest Ravi rather than simply serving a notice, adding to the political controversy.
