Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that the state government is closely monitoring the situation in parts of West Asia amid tensions between the US-Israel and Iran. Ensuring the safety and well-being of Kannadigas abroad is the state’s top priority. Around 100 Kannadigas are currently stranded in the UAE, including Dubai, and nine in Bahrain due to airspace disruptions and flight cancellations.
The State Emergency Operations Centre and all District Emergency Operations Centres have been activated to respond to the situation. Government teams are in constant contact with authorities and affected individuals to verify details and provide necessary assistance. The state government is in continuous coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs, the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and Indian embassies and consulates in the affected regions.
The Chief Secretary has requested urgent intervention from the Centre to ensure the safety, assistance, and possible repatriation of stranded Kannadigas. Additionally, coordination with airlines has been sought to provide support, flexibility in ticket rescheduling, and ensure prompt return flight services. CM Siddaramaiah urged Kannadigas in affected regions to stay calm, follow advisories from local authorities and Indian embassies, and register with embassies or consulates through helpline numbers.
Meanwhile, district-wise data of stranded Kannadigas has been released by the Chief Minister. Among the 100 stranded in the UAE, the highest numbers are from Ballari (32) and Bengaluru (25). In Bahrain, four stranded persons are from Hassan district, three from Udupi, one from Madikeri, and one from an unidentified district. The government reassures its firm support for Kannadigas abroad and commits to taking all necessary steps for their safety and return.
